Client Success Story: New Roofing, Siding, Windows, Interior Trim, and Custom Molding

Situation

Like many of our clients, a Northbrook family was looking for a new roof, siding, and windows, and potentially trim and masonry work. 

However, this family was particularly unique. Prior to contacting Len Roofing, they had conducted extensive research about their vision for the project and were intrigued by the finer details of their request. The family provided a 50-page detailed outline with specifications, preferred and substitute products, and installation, among other information to guide the project.

Challenges

There were three main challenges that arose throughout this project:

1. The family requested extensive work and wished to observe and be involved with the project
2. This client had custom one-piece gutters which they wished to keep
3. Their material selection requests were custom and specific
   

Solution

Over the course of 15 months, the Len Roofing team collaborated with the family and many external service providers to bring their vision to life. The 15-month time frame is highly unusual for our type of work.

Due to the large scope of the project, our team was especially diligent with planning and executing each activity. Len Roofing was organized and remained in touch with the family to ensure they were aware of the work.

After our client expressed their preference to keep their custom one-piece gutters, we needed to coordinate with another business to remove and reinstall the gutters in between Len Roofing’s siding and roofing installation activities. We faced some scheduling challenges with the additional business organization, but with clear communication of the client’s wishes, we were able to coordinate an effective plan to complete these activities.

The material selection specificity from this family required our team to outsource and special order the desired components. In some cases, it took us three or four months to locate some of these specific materials. We communicated these expectations with the client while working hard behind the scenes to fulfill their requests.

While working on installing these items, our team experienced a hiccup when they requested that a cupola be added to their garage. After ordering a standard size cupola, the item which was delivered was twice as large as what we were expecting. Despite its large size, our client approved the copula, and our team was able to install it above the garage. 

Outcome

This family’s specific requests for their home were challenging, but we were able to successfully meet all of their criteria. 

We provided a brand-new roof, new cement siding, new wood windows, interior trim, and custom molding for the exterior trim. Our client was thoroughly pleased with these improvements, which made their home feel refreshed, modern, and sleek.
