Roofers get hungry too!
This fall, we thought we would share our favorite fall foods and recipes that make the season special to us. Get prepared with your recipe app or your recipe cards because we know we have some interesting options you will want to add to your fall feast this year.
People tend to focus a lot on squash this time of year, but carrot soup can be a fall favorite, too.
After all, they are root vegetables that are at their peak in late fall, and you can make a mean soup by roasting them. This method of cooking really brings out the best in any root vegetable and enhances the earthy flavors in the soup. Otherwise, it is simple, with Italian parsley being the hardest ingredient to find.
What is a dump cake? And why make a pumpkin version?
A dump cake is a simple dessert where you “dump” different layers of ingredients on top of one another. It’s the perfect dessert for people who like pumpkin pie but wish there was more going on with it. This pumpkin dump cake rendition combines our favorite fall nuts, pecans, with a classic pumpkin pie recipe.
Don’t forget the whipped cream.
For vegans and people who want to cook for a vegan this Thanksgiving, we recommend lentil soup.
It doesn’t require you to understand any vegan substitutes for meat, eggs and milk (because who doesn’t stress about getting it wrong?) Rather, it can be very delicious and simple to cook.
Using a slow cooker makes this recipe so simple to whip up.
Enough about soup.
A fall-themed chicken salad is a great side for Thanksgiving or a great way to make your everyday lunch a little warmer and more seasonal. This fabulous fall chicken salad from includes autumn favorites like cranberries, pecans, and apple slices. Combine that with more usual chicken salad ingredients, and dress it up with olive oil, black pepper and balsamic vinegarette, and you have a filling salad option.
You should not go through a full fall season without some turkey.
Complaints that roasted turkey can be too dry and not quite classy enough for a dinner party are… well, sometimes accurate. You can solve those problems with a moist and upscale turkey risotto. It is comforting, delicious, and it works with leftover gravy. Do we need to say more? And don’t be intimidated if you have never made risotto.
As comfort foods go, fall is one of the best seasons for them. Enjoy these recommendations in good health!
